Beethoven's last symphony is undoubtedly his most impressive. In three parts he lets you enjoy orchestral drama and the pathos that characterizes Beethoven in his later oeuvre. But an orchestra alone is not enough for the final. The human voice must be used to bring forth the truly unspeakable joy. With Schillers Ode an die Freude Beethoven, with soloists and a large choir, paints a wonderful future picture of a twinned humanity, which was also in his days far away.
